Specification
D-3 1.2080 is a 2% carbon and 12% chromium steel with excellent wear resistance. high hardenability. 1.2080 D3 tool steel is one type oil-quenched steel; though small sections can be gas quenched after austenitization using vacuum. As a result, tools made with type D3 tool steel tend to be brittle during hardening.
Application
Mostly used in tablet dies, for roller making, Tools for cutting sheets upto 4mm, blanking dies for paper and plastic, shear blades, woodworking tools, profile roll, stone pressing tools, pressure pads and highly wear resistant plastic moulds.
